The history of the district

Le Cap d'Agde is a seaside resort developed from the 1970s, as part of the coastal development programme for the Languedoc-Roussillon. Within a few decades it became one of the largest resorts in Europe, organised around a vast marina and a string of sandy beaches.

The resort brings together holiday apartment complexes, residences, villas and a naturist village, one of the largest in the world. The Île des Loisirs and the tourist facilities make it an intensely busy hub in season. The housing stock is mostly geared towards second homes and holiday lettings.
