Navarre occupies the west of Évreux, along the avenue Aristide-Briand and the avenue du Maréchal-Foch. The name comes from the château de Navarre, built for Joan II of Navarre, wife of Count Philip of Évreux, and long since gone. Its estate left behind the avenue du Château and the Navarre racecourse, still in use.
The district developed through the twentieth century, with blocks of flats built for the population growth of the post-war years, complemented by stretches of detached houses. It takes in Les Prés Peschet and the Jeanne-d'Arc area, and ranks among the priority urban policy neighbourhoods.
