The history of the district

Ergué-Armel is a former parish set on a plateau overlooking the south of Quimper. Made a commune in 1790, it was merged into the town on 13 February 1960, in the union that brought Quimper, Ergué-Armel, Kerfeunteun and Penhars together as a single town.

The district covers a large area in the south-east of the town, away from the Odet. Traces of Gaulish settlement and a Gallo-Roman site bear witness to its age. The view over the Kérogan inlet and the neighbouring woods has long added to the charm of the site.
