The history of the district

Le Braden spreads across the southern heights of Quimper, on the territory of the former commune of Ergué-Armel, merged into the town in 1960. It is one of the newest districts of the Cornouaille prefecture town, built from a planned development zone whose first works began at the end of the 1970s to meet strong demand for housing.

The district is laid out around residential housing built from the 1980s onwards, with houses and small blocks. The Saint-Laurent valley, six hectares of green space behind the Cornouaille hospital, is its green lung, with its meadows, its stretch of water, its arboretum and its walking paths.

Le Braden keeps a firmly residential role today. Being close to the hospital, the schools and the green spaces makes it an area valued by families, a few minutes from the centre of Quimper.
