The history of the district

Saint-Symphorien was an independent municipality until 1964, before being attached to Tours. This former right-bank faubourg, on the slopes looking over the Loire, grew along the river facing the centre of Tours, around rue Losserand and the old faubourg road.

Inhabited since the Middle Ages thanks to the Eudes bridge that linked the right bank to the town, the area was mainly built up from the start of the twentieth century. The district has kept a strongly residential character, mixing bourgeois houses, villas and detached homes on the slopes.

Residential and turned towards the Loire, Saint-Symphorien attracts families and working households looking for a quiet setting close to the centre. Prices there sit in the upper middle of the town, supported by the quality of the building stock and the views over Tours.
