Les Chartreux covers the whole south of Troyes, between avenue Édouard Herriot and avenue des Lombards. The district takes its name from the former charterhouse set up in this area, then outside the town. It was built up from the 1950s and 1960s onwards to house the population drawn by the knitwear industry.
