The history of the district

Sainte-Anne, long known as the Faubourg de Noyon, is an old district in the east of Amiens. In the Middle Ages, the faubourg de Noyon stretched outside the ramparts, along the old Roman road linking Amiens to Noyon. The porte de Noyon, one of the fortified gates of the city, guarded its entrance, until it was pulled down at the start of the nineteenth century.

The district owes its name to a former Sainte-Anne chapel, then to the first Sainte-Anne church built around 1834, as part of the urban redesign that followed the removal of the porte de Noyon. The faubourg grew denser with the arrival of the railway in the middle of the nineteenth century, which came with the building of Amiens brick houses for workers and clerks.

Sought after for its character as an old outer district, its brick houses and its closeness to the centre, Sainte-Anne sees demand carried by families and first-time buyers. Supply consists mainly of Amiens houses and apartments, which makes it an intermediate residential area of the Amiens market, close to the heart of the city.
