The history of the district

The town centre corresponds to old Blois, on the hillside of the right bank. The promontory of the château separates two former medieval boroughs, Le Puits-Châtel to the east and Le Bourg-Moyen to the west, whose narrow streets, staircases and private mansions still form the fabric of the district.

The royal château, residence of several kings of France with the spiral staircase of its François I wing, the Saint-Louis cathedral, the Saint-Nicolas church, the Maison de la Magie Robert-Houdin and the Denis-Papin staircase, which links the lower town to the upper town, are gathered within a few hundred metres. The place Louis XII, the rue des Orfèvres and the rue des Trois-Marchands, together with the quays, bring together the shops and the activity.

On the market, the town centre sits at around 1 982 €/m² for an apartment, above the town average. With around 73 sales a year, it is one of the two most active districts in Blois: its average is among the most reliable and serves as a reference for the local market. The housing stock is largely old, which weighs on the gap between renovated properties and the rest.

The town centre attracts first-time buyers, investors and buyers looking for immediate closeness to the shops, the heritage and the Loire quays.
