Beausoleil occupies the hillside overlooking the south-east of Montauban, between the boulevard Montauriol and the avenue Charles de Gaulle. The area developed from the nineteenth century onwards, partly with residents of Sapiac and Villebourbon who, after the floods of the Tarn, rebuilt on the heights, notably around the rue Auguste Quercy.

The district brings together several sub-areas well known to the people of Montauban: the avenue de Beausoleil and the rue Mila, the rue Pierre Latécoère, then, towards the north, the boulevard Irénée Bonnafous, the rue de Selves and the rue de Chambord. The whole mixes apartment developments from the 1960s to the 1990s, detached houses and small recent schemes.
