The history of the district

The Graslin district was laid out at the end of the eighteenth century, on the initiative of Jean-Joseph-Louis Graslin, on land west of old Nantes. The place Graslin and its neoclassical theatre, opened in 1788, form its heart, extended by the cours Cambronne towards the Loire.

The district links the place Royale to the place Graslin by the rue Crébillon, a major shopping street, and by the passage Pommeraye, a listed nineteenth-century covered arcade. Private mansions and affluent stone buildings line these streets inherited from maritime trade.

Graslin remains the most prestigious address in the central core. Period buildings of character are scarce there and in high demand, which makes it one of the most expensive areas of Nantes per m².

Who buys in Graslin

The district attracts heritage-minded buyers, professionals and investors looking for a prestigious central address. Demand focuses on period apartments of character, from studios to large affluent floors, and on small rental units close to the shops of the rue Crébillon. The scarcity of supply and the appeal of Graslin sustain high prices.
