La Baugerie occupies the west of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, between La Métairie and the Nantes boundary, along the Loire. The area was built up over the twentieth century along the rue de la Baugerie, on former farmland turned towards the river.

The district holds the Baugerie site of the La Joliverie campus, set in a wooded park of nearly three hectares by the Loire. Its residential fabric mixes blocks of flats, condominiums and houses, in an area close both to Nantes and to the centre of the town.
