The Rives du Cher district stretches across the south of Tours, on the right bank of the Cher. It was built between 1962 and 1968, after Le Sanitas, as a large housing estate.

The district consists for the most part of apartments in large estates, and includes the two tallest tower blocks in the town. The spoil from the development created the Bergeonnerie lake, on the left bank of the Cher.

The area gives access to the green spaces along the Cher, the Honoré-de-Balzac park and the walks around the Bergeonnerie lake. The Fil d'Ariane footbridge links it to the Deux-Lions district, on the other bank. Prices there are among the most affordable in the town.
