The history of the district

Vauluisant occupies the southern half of the champagne cork, between the shopping centre of the town and boulevard du 14 Juillet. The district takes its name from the Hôtel de Vauluisant, a turreted Renaissance residence built in the sixteenth century, which today houses the hosiery museum and the museum of Champagne art.

The area keeps a dense stock of older buildings, with the Saint-Pantaléon church on rue de Turenne, rue du Général Saussier and its half-timbered houses, rue Charles Fichot and rue Larivey. More residential than the shopping heart close by, it holds the memory of the Troyes hosiery trade, whose workshops and manufacturers' mansions marked these streets.

On the market, Vauluisant sits at around 1 975 €/m² for an apartment, above the town-wide average, on a volume of around 76 sales a year. It is the second highest price in Troyes, behind the Centre-ville, in a largely older stock where the condition of the property accounts for most of the gap.
