The Centre-ville corresponds to the old core of Bourgoin, on the south bank of the Bourbre. It is organised around rue de la République, place de la République and place Charlie Chaplin, in a tight-knit fabric inherited from the merchant town that was, in the Middle Ages, the seat of the bailiwick court of the Viennois.
