The history of the district

Saint-Christophe occupies the north-west of Châteauroux, around the rue Grande Saint-Christophe and the square of the same name. It is a former faubourg, long separate from the town, whose fabric of low houses and narrow streets can still be read today.

The district extends northwards along the avenue de Tours and eastwards towards les Rocheforts. Together with Vaugirard, it forms the priority urban policy area in the north of the town. The rue de la Bièvre and the rue Édouard-Ramonet are its main routes.

On the market, Saint-Christophe sits at around 1 312 €/m² for an apartment, above the Châteauroux average, over about 10 sales a year. Volume is low: the annual series has a gap in 2024, and the twelve-month change shown rests on a very small sample. The figure to rely on is the two-year average, not the movement of the last year.

Who buys in Saint-Christophe

Saint-Christophe attracts buyers looking for a faubourg house with a little land a few minutes from the centre, along with first-time buyers. Demand is overwhelmingly for individual homes, apartments remaining a minority of the district's stock.
