Île Verte occupies the north of Grenoble, along the left bank of the Isère, facing La Tronche and the teaching hospital. Its development was set off by the arrival of the tram, the bridge over the Isère and the building of the hospital. The avenue du Maréchal Randon, which leads to the hospital and carries tram line B, splits the district in two and forms its main axis.
