The history of the district

Jean Médecin is the central thoroughfare of Nice, linking Place Masséna to the Thiers railway station. Long known as avenue de la Victoire, it took the name of the city's former mayor and concentrates the major retail chains of the centre.

The arrival of the tram in 2007 turned the avenue into a major pedestrian and shopping route. The area combines upmarket buildings from the late nineteenth century, shopping arcades and high-footfall retail, at the heart of the city centre.
