It is organised around the place de la Bilange, the place Saint-Pierre and its church, and runs along the quays as far as Le Fenêt and the chapel of Notre-Dame des Ardilliers, a former place of pilgrimage, to the east.

The district concentrates the shops, the markets, the services and most of the cultural offer of the town. Its housing stock is largely made up of old buildings, often in tuffeau, complemented by a few more recent developments. Le Petit Puy, on the slope, marks the transition towards the southern plateau.
