Pasteur extends to the west of the Bastide Saint-Louis, outside the ring of boulevards, around the Place Davilla, the Boulevard Marcou, the Rue Pasteur and the Avenue Henry Gout. The area formed as the lower town spread westwards, in a dense fabric of town houses and small apartment blocks.

The district extends to the south-west into the Saint-Jacques and Le Viguier areas, with the Place du Moulin Vert, and further on into Prat Mary and Maquens.
