La Pyramide occupies the centre-south of Athis-Mons, between the plateau and Le Val, on the boundary with Juvisy-sur-Orge. The district takes its name from the pyramide de Juvisy, a stone obelisk standing at the corner of the avenue Jules-Vallès and listed as a historic monument in 1942.
The monument commemorates the geodesic measurements carried out by the abbé Picard around 1670 between Villejuif and Juvisy, and its foundation stone was laid in 1756. The district grew up around that corner and around the former royal road from Paris to Fontainebleau, which became the nationale 7, with the allée du Panorama, the rue du Docteur-Calmette, the rue Pierre-Brossolette and the rue des Pavillons.
On the market, La Pyramide shows the most affordable average price in Athis-Mons, at around 2 389 €/m² for an apartment. Volume there is the lowest in the town, at about 9 sales a year, which calls for caution in reading trends. The district loses 14 % over five years, the sharpest decline in the town.
La Pyramide attracts first-time buyers on tight budgets and investors targeting the lowest entry ticket in the town, a few minutes from the Juvisy rail hub. The market there is narrow and the housing stock mixed, between small developments and detached houses, which makes every sale decisive in the district average. The proximity of the nationale 7 weighs in negotiations.
