Lozère occupies the south-west of Palaiseau, on the slope running down from the plateau to the Yvette. It is the town's historic summer-residence district: from the end of the nineteenth century the railway brought Parisians there to spend the summer in villas clinging to the hillside.
The district is laid out around Lozère station, the mail du Manoir, the rue Henri-Poincaré and the avenue d'Orsay, and extends east along the slopes of the Yvette, around the boulevard de Lozère, the rue Léon-Bourgeois, the avenue du Général-Leclerc and the rue Charles-Péguy. The relief is the sharpest in Palaiseau, with about a hundred metres of height difference.

Lozère attracts buyers who care about the setting: the hillside, the old villas, the footpaths and the nearby Yvette. Lozère station, on the RER B, also makes it a way in for commuters heading to Paris or Massy. Demand covers both the summer villas and the flats in the hillside developments, whose values have fallen faster than the town-wide average.

The district loses 11 % over five years and 7,6 % over twelve months, the sharpest decline in Palaiseau. Its blocks of flats are older than elsewhere and the relief limits access to some developments, two factors that weigh in a falling market.
The district mixes late nineteenth-century summer villas, hillside houses and 1960s to 1980s condominiums, within a range of 2 831 to 3 560 €/m². The view over the valley and how easy the property is to reach account for most of the gap.
