La Croix-de-Fer occupies the west of Cahors, on the left bank of the Lot, opposite the peninsula. The district is organised around the avenue Maryse-Bastié and includes the impasse des Fontaines, the rue Albert-Camus, the rue Clément-Ader, the chemin de la Gravette, the chemin de Lacapelle, the route de la Rosière and the chemin du Moulin de Labéraudie. To the south, it reaches the end of the pont Valentré via the côte de Valentré and the quai Albert-Cappus. The town council groups it into a district called « La Croix-de-Fer, Plaine du Pal, La Gravette ».
The sector occupies the Labéraudie terrace, one of the two areas where the valley widens to the west of the town. This is the way the pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela came: from the pont Valentré, the old medieval road climbs to the Croix de Magne, a viewpoint over the whole peninsula. At the foot of the bridge, the former Cabazat pumping station has become the Maison de l'Eau, which presents the history of the bridge.
La Croix-de-Fer stands at 1 633 €/m², the second-highest price in Cahors, 3 % above the town-wide average, with seven apartment sales a year. The district has gained 19 % over five years, from 1 376 €/m² in 2021 to 1 633 in 2026, and 4,5 % over twelve months. On such a small volume, the series cannot be read year by year.
La Croix-de-Fer has the second-highest price in Cahors, at 1 633 €/m², 3 % above the town-wide average. The district is mainly residential with detached houses, and its apartment sales, seven a year, are concentrated in a few residences: the average price reflects those buildings more than the sector as a whole. The buyer profile is that of families and working people looking for a home outside the old buildings of the peninsula, and of retirees. Two points to examine. The range, from 1 461 to 1 744 €/m², is one of the narrowest in the town, and the price varies little with the size of the home, from 1 602 €/m² for four rooms or more to 1 661 €/m² for a two-room apartment: the condition of the building and the floor count for more. And on such a narrow market, a valuation by address is worth more than an average price.
The average price in La Croix-de-Fer is 1 633 €/m² for an apartment (actual DVF transactions, notarised sales), within a range of 1 461 to 1 744 €/m² depending on the building, the floor and the condition.

By the old medieval road that starts from the pont Valentré and climbs the left bank to the Croix de Magne, a viewpoint over the peninsula. It was a route taken by pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela.
They are based on seven apartment sales a year, mostly in a few residences. The average price of 1 633 €/m² therefore describes those buildings well, and an individual property less well. The 19 % increase over five years is a solid trend; for a specific home, a valuation by address is preferable.
