The history of the district

Aguado takes up the east of Évry-Courcouronnes, between the town centre and Le Mousseau, on either side of the boulevard Decauville. Those two names tell the history of the area: Alexandre Aguado, banker and marquis de Las Marismas, bought the château de Petit-Bourg in 1827 and was elected mayor of Évry-sur-Seine in 1831; Paul Decauville, the industrialist behind the portable railway, was mayor of Évry-Petit-Bourg and then a senator at the end of the nineteenth century.

The district itself dates from the new town. It was built in the 1970s and 1980s on the land that separated the town-centre deck from the old eastern hamlets, with medium-sized apartment developments and local facilities, served by the boulevard Decauville, one of the town's main structuring roads.
