The history of the district

Fontvieille is the most recent district in Monaco, entirely reclaimed from the sea between 1966 and 1973 under the impetus of Prince Rainier III. This development significantly extended the territory of the Principality towards the south-west.

The district was designed according to a modern urban plan, organised around a marina, green spaces and public facilities. It is home to residential buildings, economic activities, the Stade Louis-II and several museums and institutions.

Mostly residential, Fontvieille combines a planned living environment, proximity to the port and a relatively calm setting compared with the most central districts. It is a sought-after area of the Monaco property market.

Who buys in Fontvieille

The district attracts an affluent international clientele and residents seeking a modern, well-organised residential setting. Well-off families, buyers drawn by the proximity of the port and the relative calm of the area, and investors targeting a Monaco asset share a market of upmarket properties. High-end rental demand is present here.
